Alexander Kalitinsky

Graduated from the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Odessa University; taught mathematics and natural history at the Odessa women's high school, then geography at the Moscow women's high school. In 1910 he joined the Imperial Archaeological Institute in Moscow where from 1915 he taught the anthropology and ethnology of Russia. He is a member of the Moscow Archaeological Society and vice-president of the Moscow Society for the Protection of Monuments and Antiquities.

Husband of actress M.N. Guermanova, after the revolution he was director of the Zimin opera and was associated with the management of the Moscow Art Theater.

In the 1920s, he taught at the University of Prague.

In 1930 he moved to France and was one of the founders of the Saint Séraphim de Sarov parish on rue Lecourbe in Paris, a member of various Russian cultural and religious associations.

He rests with his wife Maria Nicolaievna née Guermanova (1885-1940).
