André Posokhow

Born into a family of Don Cossacks, his father belonged to the merchant class, honorary citizen of Odessa. His brother, Sergei Andreevich, is a rear admiral. Graduated from the Corps of Alexandre Cadets in 1891, he left the Paul Infantry School in 1893 with the rank of second lieutenant. In 1899, he was a captain and graduated from the General Staff Academy.

Appointed major general in August 1914, he was quartermaster general of the 3rd Army from October 1915 to January 1917, then served as chief of staff of the 12th Army. He took part in the Civil War in southern Russia. Evacuated from Novorossysk to Constantinople in February 1920, he emigrated to France in 1920.

Decorated in 1906 with a gold Saint George saber for his action in Manchuria, during the Russo-Japanese War.

He rests with his brother Rear Admiral Sergei Andrievich Posokhow, Pyotr Mikhaïlovitch Moskvin (1885-1968), Natalia Vladimirovna Posokhova née Micielowski (1884-1970), Elisabeth Posokhow who died in 1944 and Sergei Andreyevich Posokhow (1917-1997).
