Began her career as a dramatic actress in kyiv, then in Moscow, Riga and Vilno.
In 1913, she began acting in films by Ermoliev, one of the first Russian producers. She became a silent film star.
She is interested in occultism, linked to the order of the Martinists, in particular to the Martinist Lodge, of which Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra and several members of the imperial family are members.
In 1919, she left Russia with her husband, the poet Sergei Sokolov-Kretchetov (1878-1936). She went to Constantinople, then to Vienna and Berlin, where she performed in artistic cabarets and in musical plays. During the Second World War, she left Berlin for Karlsbad. After the war she moved to Paris, where she performed in plays.
She is not only an actress, but also a translator, writer and journalist.
She rests with her husband.
